Job Summary
The City of Hiawatha is accepting applications for (3) summer Seasonal Parks Maintenance positions (April - September). Staff will report to the Public Works Superintendent and/or the Parks and Recreation Director and assist with the care of parks, playgrounds and city owned properties. The City is looking for self-motivated individuals that enjoy the outdoors with the ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships to accomplish job responsibilities.
Specific Qualifications
Daily responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds and facility structures. Tasks include, but are not limited to, mowing, trimming, care for plants and trees, routine facility clean-up, and assisting other departments as directed. Operates a variety of equipment including pick-up trucks, trailers, mowers, trimmers, power tools, etc. Must be able to work in typical Iowa weather conditions; heat, humidity, cold, rain and sun.
Standard Monday-Friday work week (7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.), weekends and holidays may be required. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills is beneficial. Successful completion of pre-employment background check, drug screening, physical, and a valid driver’s license is required prior to employment. Must be 18 to apply. Rate of pay $16.00 per hour.
