Job Summary
The City of Hiawatha is accepting applications for (1) Seasonal Weekend Parks Maintenance position (April - September). Staff will report to the Public Works Superintendent and/or the Parks and Recreation Director and assist with the care of parks, playgrounds and city owned properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and takes pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for the community.
Specific Qualifications
Daily responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds and facility structures. Tasks include, but are not limited to routine facility clean-up, care for plants and trees, and providing friendly and helpful assistance to park visitors. Operates a variety of equipment including pick-up trucks, power tools, etc. Must be able to work in typical Iowa weather conditions; heat, humidity, cold, rain and sun.
Non-standard work week, Saturday and Sunday (mornings and afternoons) with occasional weekday shifts as needed. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills is beneficial. Successful completion of pre-employment background check, drug screening, physical, and a valid driver’s license is required prior to employment. Must be 18 to apply. Rate of pay $16.00 per hour.
