The City of High Point is currently seeking a AMI Sr. Systems Analyst that is responsible for managing the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) operations within the City of High Point, ensuring system integrity, optimal performance, and coordination among AMI analysts, meter technicians, and other team members. The role requires both strategic oversight of AMI project implementations and hands-on technical guidance to resolve operational issues. This position aims to ensure accurate, reliable data for utility management and customer service improvement.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Customer Service Director.
Essential Tasks
- Ownership of Metering Operations :
Manage all aspects of AMI operations and ensure seamless integration with legacy meter reading processes still in use.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of AMI analysts, meter technicians, and other staff involved in metering operations.
Oversee the performance of the AMI system, including hardware, software, communication networks, and data management systems.
Maintain and oversee processes related to legacy meter reading systems.
Monitor and maintain high standards of data quality within the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) and Customer Information System (CIS).
Act as a liaison between Customer Service, Electric Utilities, IT, and other city departments to ensure efficient AMI operations and customer support.
Lead AMI-related projects, including upgrades, expansions, and integrations, while balancing budgetary and timeline constraints.
Establish and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for AMI and legacy meter reading operations.
Serve as the subject matter expert for customer inquiries related to AMI and metering services.
Ensure all metering operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, safety standards, and city policies.
Lead and coordinate AMI-related activities during emergencies or system disruptions, including outages or severe weather events.
Generate and present regular reports on AMI performance, meter reading accuracy, project progress, and key metrics to city leadership.
Qualifications
At least 7 years of experience with critical infrastructure systems, with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
3 years AMI / MDM experience.
Acuity, far - clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to see from a distance when administering and observing employment tests, operating a motor vehicle, or addressing an audience.
Light Work
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; and / or
Reaching - Extending the hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
Ability to apply principles of logical thinking combined with knowledge of principles and practices of public personnel and employment laws to work tasks and handle practical situations, comprehend, and respond to a variety of situations in a timely fashion and exercise good judgment.
Using arithmetic and / or Statistics : Ability to direct and oversee the use of arithmetic and / or statistics in the preparation of a variety of tests and reports.
The ability to speak, read and write the English Language are required for this position.
The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes, however, on occasions the worker does have responsibilities outside the building and will be exposed to the various weather conditions.
