Under general supervision of the Chief People Officer/ Human Resources Director, provides a broad range of Human Resources services and is responsible for providing human resource assistance, service, and guidance, to various City departments.
Essential Functions of Work
Assists the Human Resources Director with program administration, coordinating services and programs, preparing correspondence and reports, and maintaining records and files.
Coordinates the recruitment and selection process; places recruitment announcements on City website and external websites; responds to inquiries from prospective candidates; screens applications and coordinates the flow of applications to respective hiring supervisors; monitors status of interviews conducted by hiring supervisors; receives notification from hiring supervisors regarding the selection of preferred candidates; responds to inquiries from candidates regarding status in selection process; provides notification to non-selected candidates.
Coordinates pre-employment assessments to include background checks, fingerprinting, drug screens and physicals.
Coordinates orientation process for new employees; meets with new employees on their first day of employment to provide information regarding key policies, processes, procedures, rules, and regulations; facilitates accurate completion of required forms; enters data into employee management software.
Assist in creating and coordinating employee appreciation events.
Assists employees in answering benefit and policy questions.
Provides training on general human resources topics and human resources software.
Works closely with the Payroll Specialist to assist with pay issues or questions and contract interpretation.
Collects data, devises correspondence, completes forms and assists in the preparation of professional reports associated with the Human Resources operations.
Completes mandatory federal and state EEO reporting and other mandatory reporting requirements.
Assists in managing the self-insured worker’s compensation program.
Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
Responds to public records requests.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Typical Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or other relevant field (Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other relevant field preferred) and some Human Resources experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Human Resource principles, practices, and procedures;
Basic knowledge of FLSA, minor labor laws and EEOC guidance on background and criminal checks.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay: $54,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
