The Walters Cultural Arts Center (WCAC) is accepting complete applications for a part-time Program and Facility Attendant! This position supports the Walters Cultural Arts Center rentals, events, classes, and programs through facility set-up of tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies to prepare our facility for our many activities. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy a mix of physical and customer support work.

The Ideal Candidate:

Is self-motivated, friendly, calm, and has excellent problem-solving skills. When working with our private rentals or performance series, this individual is able to maintain inventory of supplies and materials, make sure spaces are clean and ready for public use, open, close, and secure the building as needed. In order to provide and maintain a positive experience for our renters, the candidate should be highly organized and able to efficiently navigate through multiple tasks, possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team while doing their best to be flexible with requests from our patrons but also upholding City policies.

In this role:
The focus will be to assist with rental events or special events at the Walters Cultural Arts Center. Some examples of events are: weddings, concerts, quinceñeras, memorial services, and more. Hours vary based on need and occur on weekdays and weekends. This position supports the Walters Cultural Arts Center Programs and public rentals and works closely with the Management Specialist as a lead and the Cultural Arts Program Manager as their supervisor.


The principal function of an employee in this class is to provide facility support for facility rentals, events, classes and programs.


Examples of Essential Work

This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

  • Provides facility support for facility rentals, events, classes, and programs.
  • Sets-up and takes-down tables, chairs, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs custodial duties including, but not limited to, cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and disposing of trash.
  • Maintains supplies, facilities repairs and inventory.
  • Enforces and explains program policies, rules and regulations.
  • Monitors, opens, closes and secures the facility as needed.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment, reports issues in a timely manner to appropriate higher-level staff.
  • Receives and responds to questions, concerns and complaints from patrons; determines issues and resolves or refers to leadership as appropriate.
  • Participates in meetings, training sessions, workshops and reviewing new learning resources to remain current in assigned work area.
  • Manages records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Acceptable Experience and Training

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

Depending on assignment, some positions may require:

  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.

Bilingual incentive pay available
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English. Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
