This position is responsible for the Welcome Desk operations of the C.O.R.E. (Center of Recreational Excellence) and is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • Provides efficient and courteous customer service to all individuals who enter the facility; processes or refers questions, concerns and needs as necessary. 

  • Adheres to and implements the CORE mission and philosophy. 

  • Responsible for giving tours of the facility. 

  • Assists customers with all transactions including memberships, sale of merchandise, and facility rentals. 

  • Responsible for opening and end of shift duties as well as all cash handling as it relates to all front desk operations in the CORE.   

  • Ensures members receive accurate and current information of policies and procedures.  

  • Answers phone and relays information appropriately.  

  • Knowledge of upcoming classes and special CORE events. 

  • Adheres to assigned work schedule. 

  • Implements the CORE mission and philosophy. 

  • Immediately reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse.

  • May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

Complies with safety rules and appropriately maintains and uses equipment and material.  Maintains confidentiality of matters relating to the City at all times. Demonstrates self-initiative in performing routine tasks as in accordance with standard operating procedures and standard operating guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and chain of command.

 

This position is subject to the City of Hobbs’ Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience:

 

Graduation from high school or high school equivalency (HSE) preferred with one (1) year in a customer focused position preferred. Experience with point of sale software preferred. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  1. Applicant must be dependable.  
  2. Applicant must be available to work flexible hours.
  3. Applicant must be available to work weekends.
  4. Ability to work in a team atmosphere.  
  5. Ability to utilize basic computer skills.
  6. Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships
  7. Must have exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  8. Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.  
  9. Must be able to deal with people under stressful and demanding situations.
  10. Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  11. Bilingual preferred.

 

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

 

  1. Valid state issued driver’s license preferred
  2. Ability to obtain Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED/First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Work under the general supervision of the CORE Guest Services Coordinators and the CORE Facility Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

 

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate controls and reach with upper and lower body and hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may be required to stand up to a six (6) hour period of time.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office and moderately loud when in other parts of the facility.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals.
