- Assist in planning and performing security related upgrades to computers and network systems.
- Installs and maintains security software and systems on end user computers.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with all IPRA and litigation requests by providing necessary records.
- Responsible for maintaining current technical knowledge by attending security workshops and online training and reviewing applicable publications.
- Instructs computer users on the secure use of their assigned equipment.
- Assists in maintaining and ensuring compliance of all software licensing and authorized use.
- Responds to requests to troubleshoot and interpret problems and provides technical support for hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
- Helps to ensure the integrity of the City's internet and intranet sites.
- Coordinates with outside technical support agencies or vendors to solve computer problems as required.
- Performs a variety of technical work to include installation, upgrades, network administration and technical maintenance for all specialized software and hardware systems throughout the organization.
- Assists in other l.T. functions including telephone, radio, audio visual warning systems as well as requests from all departments for help on technical issues.
- Must occasionally work outside normal business hours in order to minimize downtime of City services.
- May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

- Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college with a degree in Computer Science or a closely related field with two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Security or equivalent certification required. CYSA or equivalent preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of computer and peripheral repair.
- Good analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with anti-virus software, intrusion detection, firewalls and content filtering.
- Ability to troubleshoot error messages or viruses.
- Ability to work under close supervision, as well as the ability to take independent initiative when needed.
- Knowledge of operating systems/registry.
- Ability to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to effectively communicate both electronically and orally.
- Ability to communicate network security issues to both end user and management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City personnel, outside technical support agencies, vendors, and general public.
