GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Public Services Director, performs maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds for Holladay City. On-the-job training is provided.
JOB APPLICATION
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Works on the care and maintenance of parks, including: mowin,g trimming, edging, trimming branches, clearing trails, weeding, maintaining plants, removing trash, fixing and replacing playground equipment, fixing fencing, putting down fresh mulch, fertilizing, etc.
· Works on the care and maintenance of city hall, including: cleaning floors, fixing walls, painting, replacing burnt out lightbulbs and rewiring lights to convert them to LED, toilet repairs, salting sidewalks, etc.
· Works on the care and maintenance of small facilities (example: pavilions or park bathrooms) including: power washing cement tables, removing graffiti, clean bathrooms, repair toilets/sinks, repairing heaters, performing repairs on water pumps, removing debris from water feature, removing trash from trash bins, etc.
· Maintenance on water systems in parks, including replacing sprinklers, fixing lateral leaks, replacing valve boxes, drip lines, control boxes, etc.
· Clear gutters and storm drains on streets
· Helps with removing vegetation from Clear View areas on streets to meet city ordinance requirements.
· Water management: keeping lawns, hanging baskets, and other plants alive while working on water smart improvements;
· Maintains Upper Canal grates as needed;
· Assists in training seasonal help, both in lawn care, tool use, and safety.
· On-Call for storm events;
· Snow removal in areas of city care (City center, city hall, sidewalks near schools, turnouts)
· Performs daily inspection of buildings and grounds for appearance and safety;
· Hang banners in city spaces
· Maintenance of equipment and fleet vehicles.
· Set up table/chairs and other preparation in City Hall meeting and conference rooms;
· Set up and take down for City events as needed;
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduation from High School or GED with sufficient experience to demonstrate aptitude to ability to perform above related duties.
Special Qualifications:
· Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver’s License with periodic verification by the city;
- Must be available for emergency call out during severe snow and rain storms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge of routine servicing of motor and mechanical equipment such as line trimmers, lawn mowers, snow blowers, heating, and air conditioning units.
· Working knowledge of painting techniques and minor repair techniques;
· Skills to operate lawn mowers, snow blowers, CAT/kitten, and other building and ground maintenance equipment;
· Ability to endure physical stress and work in outdoor weather conditions. Ability to lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
· Knowledge of safety regulations;
· A commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Incumbent of the position performs a variety of physical activities and heavy lifting;
· Working in inclement weather and some muscular strain;
· Tasks require a variety of physical activities and require frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing;
· Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity required for many tasks;
· Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and guided problem solving.
· Ability to lift 100 lbs.
REMOTE ELIGIBILITY - Not Eligible for Remote Work – This role requires on-site presence at the City.
