DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and publication of custom applications, reports, dashboards, and data feeds supporting the Houston Emergency Center. The role is a member of the Houston Emergency Center Applications Team. These applications will use data from the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) database and other SQL existing databases. The candidate will use a variety of development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, SSRS, and PowerBI. The candidate will coordinate with public safety customers in developing the required software. Close coordination with other divisions within Information Technology Services is required. The candidate will work closely with the Houston Emergency Center Applications Manager to coordinate the development and implementation of custom software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
Extended work hours may be required due to situational emergencies, such as critical systems failures or extended installation times. If designated TIER 1, the successful candidate may be required to stay at the Emergency Center during major events, such as severe storms.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field. Usually has advanced technical certifications that demonstrate mastery of a specialized application.
EXPERIENCE At least six (6) years of technology experience supporting applications. Advanced certifications and / or greater than six (6) years applicable experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the education requirement.
LICENSE Must be able to obtain Texas Criminal Justice information Systems (CJIS) Certification. PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants possessing the following :

SALARY INFORMATION Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate’s qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
