About our Department:
The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is located near the City’s downtown business and historic districts. Huntsville has 3 Police Precincts, approximately 500 sworn officers, 200 civilian personnel and patrols an area around 220 square miles. HPD is a “Professional Law Enforcement Organization” utilizing modern technology, state of the art equipment and comprehensive training techniques. The Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency through the “Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement” (CALEA).
NAMACC Systems Technician Position Overview:
This is advanced technical work involving IT support functions for the North Alabama Multi-Agency Crime Center (NAMACC). Work involves supporting the NAMACC System Manager in ensuring the sustained functionality of all NAMACC related software, hardware, networks, servers, and related facilities. Work involves setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the NAMACC Guardian Network which includes fixed and mobile CCTV cameras, license plate readers, video management systems, etc. Work also involves working closely with the assigned NAMACC Police Application Technician(s), vendors, the HPD IT division, as well as the City of Huntsville ITS department coordinating direct assistance with network configurations, troubleshooting, and new hardware and software (technology) reviews.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and at least five (5) years of experience in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology; or an associate's degree in Computer Science, Business or Public Administration, or a related field from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and three (3) years of experience in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology; bachelor's degree in computer science, Business or Public Administration, or a related field from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education is desired.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application.
Must successfully pass a polygraph examination.
Must successfully pass a fingerprinting background check.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Must obtain COMP TIA Security Certification within 12 months of hire or promotion.
