POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general direction of the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator, Camp Counselors lead and interact with camp participants in group activities while maintaining a fun and safe environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises, leads, and promotes educational interests in a wide variety of recreational activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, games, and hobbies.
- Cleans and maintains the facilities and equipment.
- Reports and documents in detail of any incident, accidents, or violations to parents, City of Hutto's management and Recreation staff.
- Works with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate camp events.
- Assists in the supervision of all camp field trips to ensure rules are being followed and safety is a top priority.
- Assists with the City of Hutto special events or programs as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age
Some work experience is preferred (babysitting, child care, camp counselor, etc.)
Certified Red Cross First Aid, CPR / AED is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
The employee must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
