Position Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and performance review of processing specialists at the intake of the work release. Incumbent is in this position is responsible for processing intakes, phone calls, and requests. This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations and programming-related to Marion County Community Corrections (MCCC) and directly responsible for public safety, team-member accountability, and adherence to evidence-based practices. Incumbent in this position assists with making decisions related to public safety, team-member safety, and client safety and accountability for records management, maintenance and retention, dissemination of customer information, and administrative services. Incumbent may deviate from standards as established within the appropriate policies, procedures, and laws. Errors in judgment could cause irreparable consequences and lost work hours to the agency. Incumbent will exercise freedom in judgment while assisting in policy formulation and negotiations. The incumbent provides assistance and assumes managerial duties in the absence of the supervisor. Incumbent in this position is on-call 24-hours a day seven (7) days a week, and may participate in a rotating schedule. Position reports to the Supervisor, Residential Case Management.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily supervision and performance of team-members
  • Assists in personnel matters such as recruitment, promotion, disciplinary process, and terminations
  • Implements, updates, and enforces agency policies, procedures, and adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures
  • Supervises the screening process for all community corrections referrals and ensures coordination with local and out of county or state entities regarding placement
  • Ensures case management capacity levels are sufficient for placements, as much as possible
  • Responsible for ensuring emergency plans are in place and team-members are trained
  • Ensure internal and external problems, conflicts, and issues are dealt with appropriately through the use of investigation, fact finding, interviews, and analysis of information, including citizen and resident grievances
  • Ensures accountability and oversight over clients assigned to residential supervision
  • Ensures all residents have been assessed according to policy utilizing approved risk assessments upon arrival
  • Serves as a liaison responding to questions, problems, and concerns of other divisions, agencies, courts, vendors, media, community individuals, and programs
  • Prepares statistical data and reports to summarize and evaluate program performance
  • Reviews and monitors resident case plans and programs, schedules residents for programs, monitors participation, and ensures compliance to program rules and regulations
  • Attends court hearings and proceedings as needed
  • Participates in the staffing of cases and supervises and reviews recommendations for referrals
  • Conducts reviews of team-members performance, provides coaching, and training of team-members
  • Monitors resident to case manager ratios and offender violations of program specifications
  • Ensures the implementation and adherence to evidence-based practices for the facility including vendors
  • Ensures the implementation of continuous quality improvement processes or plans for the facility
  • Helps prepare current and future needs assessments regarding efficient staffing levels, performance of team-members, and contractors
  • Position oversees facility compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) as the PREA Coordinator
  • Position acts as the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Committee Coordinator for the facility

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years’ experience working in corrections or the criminal justice system. Successful completion of all required trainings. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires knowledge in leadership, management, personnel and process performance measurement, investigative principles and practices used in ensuring compliance with appropriate state and federal laws, regulations and requirements of court evidence, and training. Must be able to advise and assist team-members and the public in all aspects of the agency. Must be able to interface with the public regarding procedures. Must be able to interpret and explain court decisions to residents, others, and managers. Emotional intelligence when dealing with people of all backgrounds. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.

Preferred Job Requirements And Qualifications

Associates degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent with one (1) year experience working in corrections or the criminal justice system. Successful completion of all required trainings. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Requires knowledge in leadership, management, personnel and process performance measurement, investigative principles and practices used in ensuring compliance with appropriate state and federal laws, regulations and requirements of court evidence, and training. Must be able to advise and assist team-members and the public in all aspects of the agency. Must be able to interface with the public regarding procedures. Must be able to interpret and explain court decisions to residents, others, and managers. Emotional intelligence when dealing with people of all backgrounds. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.
