This position reports and provides support to the Employee Relations and Compliance Administrator. The Employee Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing city-wide employee relations support by facilitating departments’ resolution of questions and concerns, based on city policies and procedures, and federal and state laws; serving as liaison between Human Resources and city departments; and gathering departmental training and development needs. Duties include coordinating and tracking Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) cases; maintaining return to work paperwork and requests for accommodations; assisting in the preparation and tracking/filing of investigation reports and other documents; facilitating exit interview processes; and coordinating random and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol screenings. Must have knowledge of laws and regulations related to human resources/employment functions, as well as principles and procedures for compliance with federal and state employment law. A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in human resources, public administration, organizational development or a related field; one year of related experience; and the possession of a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, or the ability to obtain within specified timeframe, are required. Bilingual skills (English and Spanish) are beneficial. A résumé must be submitted with an application.
