What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Electrician position at City of Irving?
Duties include planning new and modified layouts of electrical installations; performing installation and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations; overseeing assigned personnel – establishing schedules and methods for performance, planning and prioritizing work, and coordinating or providing training of new employees and cross-training of current employees; maintaining records of time, material and equipment use; purchasing necessary equipment and supplies; and preparing reports. Duties will also include performing service, installation, repair and maintenance for other functions, such as refrigerant management, potable and non-potable equipment, HVAC and solar arrays; performing many phases of construction for building additions and remodels; and responding to service calls. An Associate degree, or equivalent, from a college or technical school and two years experience at Journeyman Electrician level required; some HVAC experience beneficial. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Class C Texas driver’s license. Duties may involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
