Issaquah Parks & Community Services is seeking a welcoming & dependable professional for the critical position of Front Desk Assistant at the Issaquah Community Center! This part-time position provides customer service and departmental support at various times throughout the week. This is a high-volume facility that requires exceptional customer service skills, high energy, and the ability to function independently. Together, we work hard to make Issaquah a welcoming city to live, work and play while amplifying our passion for parks & recreation.
The Issaquah Community Center's Front Desk is open Monday - Friday, 7am - 9pm and Saturday, 8am - 4pm. Work shift days and times vary. 12 - 25 hours per week.• Serve customers by providing program and facility information, registration support, accurate account maintenance, and other tasks, as necessary.
• Effectively communicate verbally (in person and via phone) and in writing (via email), and follow established communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
• Accurately manage cash, check, and credit transactions, reports, and deposits.
• Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as record keeping, report preparation, data entry, preparation and maintenance of detailed program records, and other duties as assigned.
• Promptly respond to complaints and grievances and provide appropriate solutions.
• Participate in staff meetings, staff trainings, and special events as required.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons and fellow staff.
• Provide recommendations that increase the value of our community's experience.
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Clerical or office experience, preferably in the public sector.
• Any combination of education and experience that would provide the desired skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to work the shifts as outlined above. Other hours may be necessary for staff meetings, staff trainings and special events.Knowledge:
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, courtesy & respect
• Application of proper grammar, style, syntax, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic
• Office best practices and procedures
• City of Issaquah recreation programs and facilities
Skills:

Abilities:
• Quickly learn Registration Software and Point of Sale systems and practices
• Function across all Microsoft Office applications
• Remain calm and composed during sensitive or challenging situations and adapt/respond to a variety of styles and personalities
• Work in a loud, high-energy environment
• Push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 25 pounds
• Type 40 words per minute
