Job Description
This position reports to the Director of Planning and Development and is responsible for managing the affairs of the Building Inspection Division which includes enforcement of all building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and other related codes.
Examples of Work
- Develops policy and procedures for the division.
- Ensures code enforcement section is enforcing laws, ordinances, regulations, and citing unlicensed contractors.
- Ensures construction plans submitted for permitting are reviewed and inspected for compliance with codes.
- Meets with customers to resolve construction and building code related problems.
- Oversees budget preparation for division.
- Coaches and provides direction and support to the managers, in charge of managing units within the division to insure positive outcomes and goal attainment that are responsive to customer needs.
- Communicates clear direction, manages for results and leads organizational change.
- Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing and motivating employees.
