Job Description
This is an appointed position reporting to the Senior Manager for Main Library and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing events that collaboratively impact the community and support the mission of the Jacksonville Public Library. The Manager for Library Events (MLE) serves as a member of the Library's leadership team and delivers results by expanding the organization's capacity through coordination and collaboration with external individuals and organizations and internal team members. The MLE manages systemwide events while also serving as advisor to branch library staff hosting events. The MLE manages existing systemwide event partnerships and creates new event partnerships that align with the Library’s strategic priorities.

Examples of Work
- Serves as project manager for large Main Library events Creates detailed event plans, including timelines, budgets, logistics, goals, and security needs.
- Supports the overall mission of the Library by providing customer service in a manner that creates a positive customer experience.
- Oversees the execution of large-scale events, including making floor plans and staff assignments.
- Serves as the main point of contact for events to Library staff and partners.
- Evaluates all aspects of events to ensure they align with the Library’s mission/ vision/ strategic agenda, recommend/implement objectives and attainable goals.
- Works with staff to ensure community collaboration from inception through planning to event.
- Works as an advisor to branches and affinity groups on events that support the Library. support
- Regularly evaluates partnerships for community impact.
- Works in collaboration with Library leadership and staff in the development and implementation of policy and procedure relating to events.
- Works in collaboration with the Manager for Contracts to secure memorandums of understanding (MOUs) when necessary.
- Assists with maintaining appearance standards by reporting facilities issues and picking up litter on library grounds.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
- Five years of education and/or professional experience in libraries, event management, project management, non-profit management, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited institution preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in written communication and oral presentation skills.
- Ability to relate well and build appropriate rapport and relationships with a variety of people in all levels of the organization, as well as people outside the organization.
- A valid driver's license may be required and must be maintained during employment in this class.
- Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment a City of Jacksonville Public Driver Certification.
