GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs responsible concession and special event work, customer service duties and semiskilled maintenance work in the Parks and Recreation Department.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under general supervision of the Special Events and Programs Coordinator, Park Manager or Grounds Manager, an employee in this class performs responsible and semiskilled work involving provision of customer service, collection of fees, general maintenance and operations of parks and other similar facilities and special events; assists with service delivery during special events and programs; does related work as required.

- Opens and closes facility.
- Operates cash register; counts start-up cash and ensures enough change is available; collects and accounts for fees.
- Greets and assists patrons, collects fees, provides recreational equipment; assists with initiating activity.
- Provides customer service in person and by phone.
- Rents equipment, collects, inventories and stores equipment.
- Maintains time records.
- Records each patron on sign-up sheet, totals and verifies fees collected.
- Inventories supplies and equipment.
- Enforces rules and regulations.
- Performs light custodial, beautification work and grounds maintenance work; ensures overall park area is clean and well-maintained.
- Provides general assistance with children’s programming and summer camps; senior adult trips; youth and adult programs; and other family activities and community events.
- Provides manual labor assistance with programs, concerts, movies, and community events.
- Performs related tasks as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of the operation of a concession stand or recreation facility; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to perform record keeping and mathematical calculations; ability to get along well with others and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to operate some maintenance equipment or be trained on such equipment; ability to operate some maintenance equipment or be trained on such equipment; ability to work unusual hours, mostly nights and weekends.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Education equivalent to 10th grade education and a minimum of age of sixteen. Prefer recreational, athletics or ground maintenance work experience. Experience working with the public highly desired. If over 18, driver’s license is not required, but highly desired.
JOB RELATED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, walking, stooping, crouching, standing, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
