Duties include, but are not limited to: daily pre-use inspection of heavy equipment; preparation and loading of necessary materials for heavy equipment operation; safe, efficient operation of heavy equipment; and daily post-use maintenance and inspection of heavy equipment. Responsible for ensuring work site safety and traffic control by setting up work site within rules/regulations/SOP's, and appropriate usage of equipment. | 80% | |||||||

| Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities | ||||||||
| Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School diploma or GED, and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Transportation Construction or a related field is required. | ||||||||
| Valid State of Texas Class A CDL is required. | ||||||||
| Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public. | ||||||||
| Ability to take and follow oral instructions, as well as hand signals. | ||||||||
| Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment. | ||||||||
| Ability to properly operate heavy equipment. | ||||||||
| Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials and practices with particular emphasis on transportation and/or utility construction and repair. | ||||||||
| Thorough knowledge of work place safety practices and procedures, including but not limited to: lockout/tagout, traffic safety, spotting, etc. | ||||||||
| Must be able to work "on-call" or emergency hours. | ||||||||
