What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Property Maintenance Inspector position at City of Kenosha?
This is a seasonal position responsible for conducting inspections of manufacturing, commercial, residential and vacant property in the City of Kenosha to assure compliance with the City's property maintenance site standards. This seasonal position will work Monday-Friday from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Investigate complaints of trash and debris violations and post order to remove as needed.
- Investigate complaints of graffiti violations and post order to remove as needed.
- Investigate complaints of vision clearance violations and post order to remove as needed.
- Investigate complaints of illegally constructed fences or fences in disrepair and post order as needed.
- Investigate complaints of long grass/weeds violations and post order to cut as needed.
- Investigate complaints of junk motor vehicles and refer to Kenosha Police Dept as needed.
- Regularly inspect alleys for nuisance violations.
- Input data on computer; verify and re-check information for accuracy.
- Track and report inspections and re-inspections for outcome.
- Work with City Contractor to remove nuisance violations, as needed.
- Provide referrals to other City departments and agencies.
- Assist in providing information to and answering questions from the public and property owners.
- Attend meetings and training as required.
- Perform other related work as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge of City geography.
- Proficiency in data entry using a computer or tablet.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently and problem solve.
- Ability to work reasonably well with others in a courteous manner.
- Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress, using tact and good judgment.
- Task involves frequent walking, standing, some lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
- Tasks may be performed in adverse environmental conditions such as extreme heat, rain, etc.
- Task requires perception and discrimination in sound, order, visual, color, depth, and texture.
- Task requires oral communication ability.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. May need to furnish own vehicle on the job and provide verification of vehicle insurance coverage (bodily injury liability of at least $100,000/$300,000). Mileage reimbursement provided at prevailing rate.
