Lateral Police Officer

Earn up to $43.58/hour as a lateral police officer

The Lateral Police Officer position with the City of Kent, Ohio, involves patrolling, investigating incidents, responding to complaints, enforcing laws, and ensuring public safety. Officers also handle administrative duties and engage with the community to maintain safety and trust.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: An applicant must have prior sworn experience as a law enforcement officer in the State of Ohio and be currently certified by the Ohio Peace OfficerTraining Commission as a peace officer.
  • Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
  • Driver's License: Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Firearm Eligibility: Must be legally qualified to own and carry a firearm or sidearm.
  • Criminal History:
  • Must not have been convicted of lesser misdemeanors involving assault, attempted assault, stalking, menacing, or other offenses that involve physical force or threats against family members or other protected persons.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony offense of violence.
  • Must have no undetected criminal activity that would result in criminal liability.
  • Physical Examination: Must have passed a physical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 120 days prior to appointment. This examination must certify that:
  • The applicant meets the physical requirements necessary to perform the duties of a police officer.
  • The applicant meets the medical qualifications established by the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.27 - $43.58 per hour
