Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Efficiently assist with all aspects of the Print Shop, helping ensure prompt and cost-effective printing services for all City Departments. Responsible for assisting with Print Shop’s operations, including routine clerical/administrative work, procurement, consultation with internal customers, and bid specifications for outsourced printing.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Coordinate and prioritize printing requests efficiently.
Maintain control over materials and supplies, ensuring optimal use.
Ensure accurate billing of departmental printing needs.
Make informed decisions under pressure, particularly with rush print jobs.
Manage equipment contracts and service agreements.
Maintains and organizes filing system for departmental forms.
Collaborate with department representatives to establish printing priorities and timelines.
Manage equipment procurement, maintenance, and repair.
Prepare and maintain records, reports, and files for print jobs.
Liaise with vendors for equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Adhere to the departmental and city attendance policies.
Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
2. 1-year of related experience; or
3. Any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of printing equipment, processes, and materials.
- Familiarity with digital, offset, book binding, and finishing practices.
- Understanding of workflow analysis and job structuring.
- Skills in PC-based graphic design and layout.
- Proficiency with printing industry software and operating systems.
- Effective time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building.
- Ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
- Proficient in planning, organizing, and critiquing print production.
- Skilled in proofreading.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic math skills.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license or obtain one by date of hire.

Tools and Equipment Used
OS Windows operating system, iOS Apple operating system. Software used are: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of running scanner, and computer-aided-design software; offset press; plate maker; staplers; cutters; paper drill; collator; folder; shrink wrap unit; padding board; binder; jogger; perforator, desktop laser printer; 10 key calculator; telephone; printer and copier. Protective safety equipment is used as necessary.
