Job Summary
The Temporary Management Analyst position will assist with major work plan projects with the Parks and Community Services Department. This position is temporary for 2025-2026. Salary range listed is based on the 2024 salary rate and subject to salary scale increases in 2025.
Engages in researching, analyzing, and developing Parks and Community Services policies, programs and service levels. Responsible for oversight and coordination of assigned projects, initiatives and programs. Primary projects for 2025-2026 include Department municipal code rewrites, City-wide homeless coordination efforts, and facility feasibility studies and / or design for potential new community centers and related facilities.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for researching, preparing, and presenting information to Division, Department, and City staff, and outside agencies or groups regarding new or existing programs related to the areas of : department administration, parks management, recreation services or community services. Develop and assist in the implementation of new programs to meet overall Council, City, and Department goals. Program areas may include but not be limited to community engagement, monitoring productivity and assisting in budget development.
Essential Functions
- Analyze operational and management policies and programming.
- Develop position papers, letters, memoranda and presentations to appropriate audiences, including the public.
- Assist Department personnel in the training, use, and operation of computer programs and spreadsheets relating to productivity, timekeeping, budget, project, or other management systems.
- Develop systems to evaluate goal accomplishment, productivity and track programmatic performance.
- Represent the Department or City with regional and professional organizations; attend meetings and conferences, serve on committees and workgroups.
- Prepare and manage vendor, construction, or professional services contracts as assigned.
- Assist with public relations for the Department or City Manager's Office : Conduct Department orientations, draft press releases, post on social media, answer community inquiries, write proclamations and resolve community member complaints.
- Undertake critical research projects as assigned. Compile information and make recommendations.
- Compile budget data and statistics, develop and analyze budget components, write budget support materials.
- Fosters a positive and supportive work environment; promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace, contributing to an environment of respectful living and working in a multicultural society.
- Performs functions as assigned in the City's emergency response plan in the event of an emergency.
