What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Head Lifeguard position at City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry?
The La Crosse Parks, Recreation & Forestry is seeking energetic, hands on individuals who are interested in joining our Aquatics staff to fill the positions of Assistant Head Lifeguard at three public pools. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion, in addition to lifeguard duties.
Responsibilities:
- Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid certified or willing to become Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certified
- Able to enforce the policies outlined in the Aquatics Manual with the public and staff
- Able to meet rigid schedule throughout entirety of summer, including working most weekends
- Serve as the primary contact for patron questions or concerns regarding policies and rules
- Knowledgeable of basic computer skills and willing to learn new computer programs
- Handles self professionally and responsibly with public, staff, peers, and supervisor
- Works well under high stress
- Willing and able to work at all municipal pool facilities
- Comfortable managing a staff of 10-20 team members with average ages ranging from 14-24 years old
- Have a positive attitude at work and come with creative ideas for problem solving
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation to and from work
Qualifications:
- Lifeguard Certified or willing to become Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certified
- 18 years or older preferred
- *Certification courses available to City of La Crosse employees or new hires for at no cost*

Pay: $13.25 - $14.25 per hour
