8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m., M-F
SALARY:
$3,223.35 – $3,716.28 bi-weekly
DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent assists the Water Works Superintendent with providing organization, motivation, planning, direction,
coordinating and supervising daily operations to provide the public with safe water and services needed.
Incumbent reports to the Superintendent.
DUTIES:
Maintain valid CDL Class B Indiana Driver’s License. Maintain Water Works Operator and Backflow/Cross
Connection Control certification. Supervises the Chief of Customer Service & Distribution, the Chief of
Operations and Maintenance, Inventory/Cost Accounting Manager and Backflow/Cross Connection Inspector.
Conduct meetings with contractors concerning work in progress and with salesmen offering product options.
Attend City Government meetings. Review daily reports from laboratory, wells and pumping operation. Make
inspection on construction projects in progress and communicates with Public Works Inspectors.
Communicates effectively with the Engineering office on distribution affairs. Review maps and blueprints for
work in progress of water works improvements. Remains current through continuing education programs for
water treatment industry. Working knowledge of IDEM regulations. Enters underground vaults and confined
spaces. Provide support for operation of Water Works in the Superintendent’s absence. Assist in any water
works area as required. Work on public relations type functions to include phone calls, news releases and
communication with contractors.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, civil engineering, experience in Utility management position for a (5) five-
year period (water, preferred). Must obtain a Backflow Prevention/Cross Connection Control and DSL and/or
WT2. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 9 months of hire and maintain a safe driving record.
