Seasonal Parks Property Maintenance
LOCATION:
Lafayette Parks and Recreation; Maintenance division
HOURS:
Monday - Sunday 6:00 am- 8:00pm Full-time; Days, evenings, weekends and some holidays are required.
SALARY:
$15.25-$16.25 per hour
Description
Incumbent serves as Seasonal Property Maintenance position for the City of Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department
(Department). Maintains cleanliness and appearance of assigned buildings and grounds, including picking up litter, and
emptying trash containers. Prepares shelters for use, including locking/unlocking for evening events, setting up/removing
equipment, straightening tables, removing trash, and cleaning.
Periodically assists in maintaining buildings, facilities and related equipment, including making minor electrical, plumbing and
carpentry repairs, painting/patching walls, caulking windows, unclogging toilets, changing light bulbs, lubricating playground
equipment, repairing/replacing furniture, playground equipment and signs.
Operates various hand tools, such as pressure washers, shovels, rakes, pruning saws chainsaws, axes, gas shears, or pruners.
Keeps Department equipment, tools and vehicles clean and reports repairs.
Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs,
washing walls and glass and removing trash. Cleaning and custodial duties can include, but not limited to, cleaning and
sanitizing building interiors, cleaning furniture, windows or equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Must be 18 or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.
Strong communication skills, responsible, self-motivated and dependable. Knowledge of customer service, communication
and public relation skills. Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional
encounters with irate/hostile persons.
Ability to follow and ensure compliance with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including but not
limited to: attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to operate all equipment in the Department, including but not limited to, mowing equipment, and various excavation
tools ranging from hand tools to motorized equipment.
Maintain a positive professional appearance, demeanor and attitude, and work harmoniously with all contacts in an
enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
