7:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday
SALARY:
$1658.33-$1903.20
DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent fills chuckholes and potholes; operates mowers and trimmers; hauls away non-perishable
trash such as appliances; trims and chops trees for removal or beautification; rakes leaves from
municipal properties; replaces or repairs city sidewalks. May also collect trash or perform other clean
up duties. Performs related functions, as assigned.
Incumbent should have the ability to use hand tools and power tools, such as chainsaws and other
power equipment needed to complete work assignments; thorough knowledge of procedures for
patching of streets and repairing concrete sidewalks; working knowledge of street layouts and traffic
patterns for the City of Lafayette; ability to operate safely all vehicles in the municipal fleet; ability to
make judgments concerning safety procedures. Related work experience may substitute for
education/training.
Incumbent performs light to heavy work while walking, standing, and sitting. Incumbent is required to
lift, carry, and throw and to use push/pull action to complete work assignments. Moderate skills in
dexterity, vision, and hearing are required for the purpose of completing assigned duties safely.
Work is performed almost exclusively outside under noisy and hot/cold conditions. Incumbent is
exposed to dirt, dust, grease, vibrations, and electrical and mechanical hazards. Incumbent is
required to wear protective gear, such as hard hat, safety vest, goggles, earplugs, and gloves and
safety boots.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid Indiana driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain CDL
