8:00AM – 4:00PM, Monday – Friday, overtime as required
SALARY:
$2,161.98 - $2,487.06 bi-weekly
DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent serves as Surveillance Technician for Lafayette Renew, responsible for working in compliance with the
Environmental Protection Agency and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management Pretreatment
Programs of Industrial Wastewater and Land Application Program for municipal bio-solids disposal.
DUTIES:
- Gather representative samples & other data for use in monitoring activities.
- Operates, calibrates, and maintains MSA meter, portable samplers, and flow meters.
- Installs sampling and flow measurement equipment at various applications.
- Enters manholes, underground vaults, and other confined spaces safely using OSHA required methods.
- Documents and conducts industrial surveillance monitoring.
- Responds to calls on spills, illegal discharges, or various contaminants in sewer system, determining source of
- Performs soil sampling and site inspections for Land Application of Biosolids Program.
- Conduct and document inspections at industrial, commercial, and residential facilities.
- Mandatory overtime required, including evenings and weekends.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- High school diploma or GED required and equivalent combination of training and/or work experience in
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with industrial and commercial individuals, including
- Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations, to read and understand blueprints and to keep
- Ability to learn and understand Industrial and Municipal Wastewater treatment processes.
- Ability to research various contaminants and their effect on treatment process.
- Ability to cross train in laboratory, grease trap inspections and stormwater.
- Ability to learn the use of geographic road maps, sewer maps, and soil maps to carry out work assignments,
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Possession of a valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
