General Summary
Responsible for the overall supervision and planning of swim team participants. As well as conduct team practice sessions and meets.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age to apply.
Essential Functions
The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
- Assist in running swim team practice workouts, set up meets; may act as Head Coach when required.
- Provide feedback to parents regarding swim stroke development and swimmer's general progress; ensures safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Also performs related work as required and assigned.
Typical Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated working knowledge of all skills and techniques related to swim stroke refinement and a comprehensive knowledge of swim team organization, league rules and requirements, competition workouts.
SKILL: Demonstrated skill in operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
ABILITY: Strive for excellence without winning being the priority; work tactfully with parents; motivate students in a positive way; communicate effectively with the general public and co-workers; make quick decisions; follow and enforce established rules and regulations; work flexible hours that include M-F 6:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and Saturday mornings. Additional hours maybe assigned for organized team activities, parent meetings, private lessons or stroke clinics.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in competition swimming preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
PREFERRED: Knowledge and prior experience using RecTrac, being a Team Manager, and being a Meet Manager.
Special Requirements
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications within two (2) weeks from date of hire.
