GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for managing daily tasks as provided by Parks and Recreation Manager. Required to participate in all City sponsored special events. Accountable to and works under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains city parks, ballfields, basketball courts, tennis court and all other city recreational facilities
- Manages all daily tasks as provided by the Parks and Recreation Manager
- Performs heavy manual labor such as digging, lifting objects or equipment, spraying, painting, and other manual labor
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain saws, backhoe, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws
- Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders
- Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, or other grounds features
- Works occasionally on weekends, nights, holidays and special events
- Minor facility maintenance: assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, painting, machinery, or equipment
- Performs other related duties as directed or required by the Parks and Recreation Manager
- Position may be designated as mission-critical by the Department Director
- High school graduate or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required
- At least two (2) years of experience in lawn maintenance or similar work-related field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Valid Class “B” C.D.L. License preferred
- Salary: $14.62 per hour
- Retirement: 10% City contribution of your salary to the 401(a) plan
- Retirement Match: City will equally match the employee’s 457(b) contributions up to 5% of the employee’s salary into the 401(a) plan
