SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, this individual schedules appointments, gives information to callers, takes dictation, and otherwise relieves officials of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail. This position is responsible for work of moderate difficulty in the administrative and clerical field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Compose and type routine correspondence.
File correspondence and other records.
Answer telephone and give information to callers or route call to appropriate official and places outgoing calls.
Greet visitors, ascertain nature of business and refer visitors to employer or appropriate person.
Make copies of correspondence or other printed material.
Operate office machines such as a personal computer with word processing and spreadsheet software applications, facsimile machine, calculator, copying machine.
Perform any other assigned duties.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least 6 months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
