DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
(B) Supplemented by six (6) month labor experience and a demonstrated ability to perform the physical and mathematical duties of the position.
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
(A) Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and
procedures used in maintenance; Knowledge of intermediate level mathematical computations, including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, decimals, ratios and percentages.
(B) Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment.
(C) Ability to learn routine operations in the collection treatment, dispersal and disposal of water/wastewater in compliance with all applicable city, state and federal rules and regulatory requirements applicable to the work; Ability to work safely; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and other departments and the public; Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions; Ability to read and interpret readings, measurements and flow rates obtained through application of diagnostics, laboratory sampling and testing equipment; Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction; Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid Florida Driver's license, or ability to obtain one. Trainee will have twenty-four (24) months from hire date to obtain and maintain Drinking Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment, Level C Operator Certification issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
