What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER PT position at City of Lake Worth Beach?
The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Parking Enforcement Officer P/T.
This Part-Time Non-Exempt Non-Bargaining position is based on a 29 hour work week with an hourly pay of $17.79. This position will work at Leisure Services located at 10 South Ocean Blvd, Lake Worth, FL 33460.
Part-time employees are not eligible for City health and pension plan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning electronic parking devices; repairs, rebuilds and replaces related equipment including fuses, switches, wiring, cables, etc., per schematics and diagrams.
- Participates in daily preventative maintenance of parking pay stations via testing and adjustments.
- Responds to complaints of malfunctioning electronic meters and repairs or replaces as required.
- Assist Parking personnel in retrieval, recording, storing and collection of revenue from pay stations in accordance to city procedures.
- Assist patrons with questions regarding pay stations and general parking and customer service inquiries.
- Maintains department vehicle and equipment in terms of safe operation, appearance, security and preventive maintenance.
- May lay out, remove or install new meters as required by City parking ordinances.
- Performs “stand-by” duty and responds to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electronic equipment.
- May perform duties of other classifications in the division on an as-needed basis.
- Works with local sheriff’s office to provide a safe environment at the city’s parking areas.
- May require nights, weekends and holidays.
- Fill in for Parking Operations Supervisor when needed.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of standard methods, practices, materials and equipment utilized in Electronic maintenance and repair work, including Strada/Parkeon Pay Stations or other types.
- Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions.
- Working knowledge of standard methods, practices, materials and equipment utilized by Parking
Services.
- Working knowledge and skill in use and care of mechanical and power hand tools.
- Knowledge of City of Lake Worth municipal parking ordinances.
- Ability to issue citations and give quality customer service.
- Ability to analyze electronic equipment, diagnose malfunctions and make necessary repairs.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform both delicate and rough mechanical work.
- Ability to read and understand diagrams.
- Ability to make arithmetic computations quickly and accurately.
- Ability to run, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to withstand adverse weather conditions and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain time and work records, and prepare reports daily using arithmetical computations.

Ability to learn and keep abreast of changes in related meter and computer technologies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, parking
device manufacturers’ representatives and the general public.
- Knowledge of record keeping.
- Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED with one year or more experience in maintenance and repair of complex electronic parking devices. Prefer Parking Enforcement Specialist Training (PEST) certified. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record.
