The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Solid Waste Customer Service Coordinator.


Pay Rate: TBD based on qualifications and experience


This Full Time Non-Exempt position is based on a 40-hour work week with an hourly pay range of TBD. This position is part of the Public Employee Union (PEU) working for Public Works located at 1880 2nd Avenue North, Lake Worth, FL 33461.

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an administrative position responsible for the daily operations of the Solid Waste and Recycling Division’s reception area. Must have both strong customer service and administrative skills to support, interact and communicate with the general public, administration staff, Solid Waste collection crews, city staff and private contractors. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Solid Waste Manager and Solid Waste Office Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as first point of contact at the Solid Waste and Recycling Administration Division reception area.
  • Provides information to residents and commercial customers relating to Solid Waste and Recycling collection routes, schedules, service/billing issues and status of delivery of carts, bins and dumpsters.
  • Answers, logs and tracks incoming calls from residents and commercial customers; updates messaging on customer service line
  • Operates base radio for dispatching information and general communication with drivers.

  • Enters data, prepares billing and provides administrative support pertaining to Solid Waste and Recycling Notices of Violation.
  • Organizes and files disposal tickets; verify tickets against monthly report.
  • Conducts audits of residential and commercial waste collection accounts.
  • Maintains / ensures accuracy of commercial accounts in Naviline and residential accounts on tax roll.
  • Keeps accurate and organized records of account adjustments.
  • Communicates account changes to Utilities Department and customers verbally and / or in writing.

  • Generates and distributes correspondence to include flyers, door hangers, letters, memorandum and emails.
  • Assists with purchasing, payroll and other bookkeeping tasks as needed.
  • Updates and maintains the Office calendar.
  • Ability to research information / data for staff on various internet links.
  • Files completed incident / injury reports with Human Resources - Risk Manager for Solid Waste and Recycling Division.
  • Maintains filing system and office supplies for administrative staff.
  • Assists with Community Outreach and events.
  • Schedules interviews and handles on-boarding of new employees.
  • Maintains employee records / files.
  • Assists with various Division programs and projects.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have strong understanding and application skills of PC hardware, standard office software and spreadsheets programs.
  • Ability to accurately perform arithmetic computations and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, city staff, government officials and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

SUPERVISION:

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED with two years or more experience in Customer Service and Administrative Assistant positions.
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
  • Bilingual helpful.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel: reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is regularly required to stand, climb/descend steep stairwell or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position involves sedentary to light work in an office setting. There is frequent need to stand, sit, stoop, walk, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform similar actions during the course of the workday. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation.

Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100,200,700 and 800 within the first six months of employment. Certain positions may be required to attain additional ICS training as needed.
