What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager, Public Works position at City of Lakewood Ohio?
The City of Lakewood is currently accepting applications for the position of Project Manager in the Department of Public Works. This leadership position assists the Public Works Director and Division Managers in operational functions and as well as manage capital improvement and other projects. The scope of work, projects, assignments and priorities will shift depending on the seasonal and project needs as determined by the Public Works Director.
Qualified applicants will possess the knowledge, experience and ability to perform the following essential job functions:
Review of operations and determining needed adjustments; prioritizing repairs and determining suppliers and costs; establishing contracts and conferring with contractors; estimating project costs; making recommendations regarding capital improvement projects; overseeing construction activities and special events; responding to citizens/patrons and following up on requests, complaints, needs, etc.; investigating and resolving residential and commercial complaints, damage and/or loss claims and other problems.
Be knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, and local ordinances, codes, and laws. Must understand pavement condition ratings. Have experience in project management and construction administration including ADA compliance. Must be able to collaborate with various utility companies on various projects.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidates will possess an Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and four to five years of related and progressively responsible experience., any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Certified Arborist and/or urban forestry experience preferred.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
This position requires flexibility of scheduling and will require meeting and operations attendance during evening and weekend hours.
