What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Provider position at City of Lancaster, Texas?
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Life Center Supervisor, this position is responsible for operating the City's transport vehicles, which include a van, a minibus, and a full-sized school bus. The primary duty involves transporting participants of all ages—children, youth, teens, adults, and seniors—to and from the City's recreational facilities, as well as various off-site activities and field trips. This role emphasizes ensuring safe and efficient transit for all passengers.
- Provides customer service to patrons in person, by email and phone.
- Assists with congregate meal registration, membership, and orientation.
- Data input of member information, assist with serving of daily meals, assist with the cleaning of dining hall and kitchen at conclusion of daily lunch program.
- Completes daily facility checklist and report broken or damaged equipment for repair or replacement.
- Follows opening/closing procedures.
- Ensure classrooms are clean and safe before and after each class or meeting by adequately sanitizing surfaces and arranging furniture. Monitor and restock supplies to keep the space organized.
- Develop and implement monthly outing schedules based on seniors' interests and preferences, including outdoor visits, cultural experiences, and social events.
- Assist instructors during classes by managing the classroom, assisting with activities, and guiding students as needed.
- Assists with training of volunteers; assists with organizing and facilitating monthly meetings of the committees as well.
- Assist senior citizens on and off of the bus when the need arises.
- The van driver may work in inclement weather conditions and occasional night driving.
- Cleans and maintains busses to assure safe operating conditions prior to and after each use.
- Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.
- Performs preventative maintenance by checking and refilling all fluid and fuel levels.
- Reports necessary maintenance and repair needs to supervisor or Fleet Manager as needed.
- Maintains records of passengers, mileage, gasoline, destination addresses and purpose of trip.
- Mop, Sweep and clean common areas and restrooms
- Serves as primary transportation provider Youth Services and Senior Services
- Other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license CDL with passenger endorsement required. Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
