The City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications to fill several Part-Time Parks Caretaker positions. The goal of this position is to maintain the quality of public parks, facilities, gardens, etc. This is a terrific opportunity for those who enjoy working outdoors during the spring and summer months.Act now to become a valued member of our department! Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Opening and closing public parks, restrooms and pavilionsPlacing picnic table reservation signs on groups of tables using information provided by administrative staffMonitoring the public use of parklands, facilities, gardens, picnic areas, etc.Assisting in the maintenance of municipal properties by performing a wide range of manual laboring tasks in buildings, parking ramps and parksPerforming building custodial tasksPerforming basic building tasks including; measuring and cutting material using hand and power tools, performing painting workDrives an automobile or pick-up truck as required.Ideal candidates will possess the following: Must be 18 years or olderExperience in landscaping, planting flowers and laying turf preferredSpecial Requirements: Work schedule will include weekend, evening hours and may include holidaysMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate standard transmission vehiclesAbility to lift 50 pounds on occasionOrdinarily works less than forty (40) hours per week (work schedule and hours vary)
