What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor (TEA) position at City of Lansing?
The City of Lansing Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Summer Camp Counselors to assist with the guidance and development of youth who participate in the City of Lansing’s 8-week summer camp session (which INCLUDES A ONE-WEEK PAID TRAINING period) prior to the start of the program. These leadership-driven positions provide an excellent chance for you to ignite creative learning to young people in the community between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. This environment is a perfect fit for individuals who love to have fun while they work and live to motivate groups with positivity and high energy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist in the development of camp curriculum
• Supervise, provide instruction, and teach diverse activities to youth
• Lead discussions with small groups
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Must be 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- Interested candidates must provide proof of age prior to interview selection.
- Previous experience communicating and interacting with youth individually and in a group setting preferred.
- Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience and competence in oral and written communication.
