Landfill Scale Account Specialist

The City of Laramie is accepting applications for a Landfill Utility Scale Account Specialist at the Landfill & Recycling Center under the Solid Waste Division. Under general supervision, to perform a variety of duties involved in the operation of the landfill including recording customers, determining and collecting charges, inspecting all loads according to regulations and permits, and to direct the unloading of solid waste and recycling.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform duties at landfill entrance which include greeting customers and vendors, inspecting loads, determining and collecting or recording charges for users, issue receipts as required for fees taken in, account for and handle money in association with collection of landfill fees.
- Accept appropriate wastes and recycling, reject prohibited wastes; assess appropriate charges; complete necessary forms.
- Direct trucks and vehicles to proper location to ensure safety and ease of unloading and efficient covering of unloaded materials; direct unloading to segregate waste as necessary based on type.
- Maintain a variety of records and logs and prepare a variety of summaries and reports including user reports.
- Explain and answer questions concerning Solid Waste programs and procedures, including topics such as disposal, recycling & diversion and basic collection pickup in person, over the phone and through emails.
- Additional duties include cashiering, customer service, general accounting, financial transactions, and record keeping.
QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying:
- Completion of high school or GED supplemented with one year of experience in a customer service, cashier, and front counter or accounting position.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office is preferred.
