ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. - Plants, waters, fertilizes, edges, and cuts grass; rakes leaves; trims and prunes trees and hedges; trims, pulls, and sprays weeds.
- Checks grounds for vandalism and damages; erases or paints over graffiti on walls.
- Picks-up trash and other debris and disposes properly; sweeps sidewalks.
- Performs minor carpentry work; cleans air-conditioner filters; replaces light bulbs in buildings; performs minor paint jobs.
- Drives tractor mower and trucks to haul debris; maintains City vehicles including checking oil, gas, and water levels.
- Assists in performing minor plumbing repairs such as installing the sprinkler systems; digs trench and makes adjustments to the pipe and pipe-fitting; assists in repairing sinks, toilets, and faucets in buildings.
- Maintains recreational fields; marks foul lines and home plate.
- Sets up for services and events, provides customer service, and breaks down at close of event.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records regarding work performed.
- Performs related work as required.

Required Education and Experience
At least eighteen (18) years of age.
Required Licenses or Certifications- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
