- Supervises the health education and promotion team, ensuring program objectives are met and providing guidance and evaluation to team members.
- Collects and interprets demographic and epidemiological data to develop effective public health programs.
- Develops and manages health education and promotion programs tailored to address specific public health issues and initiatives.
- Develops and implements training programs for staff and volunteers.
- Integrates specialized areas such as nutrition, infectious disease, and maternal / child health into a balanced, comprehensive program.
- Engages with local organizations and community resources to maximize their use in public health programs.
- Acts as a liaison to foster partnerships and secure resources for health initiatives, including bi-national public health efforts.
- Provides guidance on health education and promotion techniques and program-specific training.
- Promotes the department's services through media outlets, increasing community awareness and projecting a positive image of public health initiatives.
- Organizes and participates in health fairs, conferences, and workshops.
- Leads efforts to promote health department services and distribute educational materials.
- Oversees the creation and distribution of educational and promotional materials, ensuring that all information is accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with public health goals.
- Establishes and maintains a resource library of current health education materials and pamphlets for distribution by departmental divisions engaged in educational initiatives.
- Monitors program effectiveness, makes data-driven recommendations, and prepares annual reports and program summaries for stakeholders.
- Researches potential grant funding opportunities aligned with community need and actively engages in the writing, submission, and management of grants.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.
