Job Description
The Health Education and Promotion Manager is responsible for overseeing, planning, and implementing health education and promotion programs that address local public health needs. This role involves coordinating efforts within the department, supervising the health education team, health promotion teams, and engaging with community partners to promote wellness and prevent disease. The Manager will design educational materials, conduct outreach, and evaluate program effectiveness.

- Supervises the health education and promotion team, ensuring program objectives are met and providing guidance and evaluation to team members.
- Collects and interprets demographic and epidemiological data to devleop effective public health programs.
- Develops and manages health education and promotion programs tailored to address specific public health issues and initatives.
- Develops and implements trainig programs for staff and volunteers.
- Integrates specialized areas such as nutrition, infectious disease, and maternal / child health into a balanced, comprehensive program.
- Engages with local organizations and community resources to maximize their use in public health programs.
- Acts as a liaison to foster partnerships and secure resources for health initiatives, includilng bi-national public health efforts.
- Provides guidance on health education and promotion techniques and program-specific training.
- Promotes the department's services through media outlets, increasing community awareness and projecting a positive image of public health initiatives.
- Organizes and participates in health fairs, conferences, and workshops.
- Leads efforts to promote health department services and distribute educational materials.
- Oversees the creation and distribution of educational and promotional materials, ensuring that all information is accurate, culturally appropriate, and alighed with public health goals.
- Establishes and maintains a resource library of current health education materials and pamphlets for distribution by departmental divisions engaged in educational initiatives.
- Monitors program effectiveness, makes data-driven recommendations, and prepares annual reports and program summaries for stakeholders.
- Researches potential grant funding opportunities aligned with community need and actively engages in the writing, submission, and management of grants.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.
