ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance on toll equipment system, video surveillance system, security access systems, and pedestrian gates and turnstiles, to always assure proper operation. Responds to request for repairs in a timely manner.
- Communicates with supervisors in charge of cash handling and bill changer equipment to resolve any malfunctions in a timely manner and with authorized technical support to minimize equipment downtime.
- Performs tests and inspections to detect potential failures and schedule repairs with authorized providers to meet city requirements.
- Ensures the optimal operation of office equipment and computer hardware to facilitate use by department personnel.
- Verifies the proper operation and maintenance of Uninterruptable Power Supplies (U.P.S. System), A/C systems, and static scales.
- Will be required to drive City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.

- Associate's degree or 60 college hours from an accredited* college or university in Information Systems or Electronics.
- At least three (3) years of experience in electronic or electromechanical machine maintenance.
*Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)
Required License or Certifications
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
