Duties: Responsible secretary and administrative work assisting the Business & Economic Development Director to discharge the duties and ensure the efficient operation of the planning office; employees is required to perform all other related work as required.

Essential Functions

  • Employee answers questions and furnishes information to the public and city employees concerning department policies, rules, and regulations; receives complaints and responds to complaints appropriately including taking initiative to see that problems in certain situations are resolved; makes appropriate referrals as necessary;
  • Assists city officials, boards, commissions, and agencies providing them with reports and information as required.
  • Schedules meetings, travel schedules, screens and takes messages for the Director and routes calls; returns calls received for the Director regarding routine information.
  • Ensures the accuracy of department files and materials; maintains highly confidential department files for the Director.
  • Performs various administrative duties related to public notices, including composing, posting, and advertising as requested.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field; three to five- (3-5) years progressively responsible experience in administrative or secretarial work; experience working in municipal government strongly preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
