IT Operations Manager, under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology, provides senior oversight and management of the City’s applications; support services; technology infrastructure and related staff. Instrumental in directing the delivery of IT services and designing related improvements or addition of new processes with an emphasis on the management of business applications and the design, installation, administration, and optimization of computers, servers and related components. This includes administering the organization’s infrastructure according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability; designing; and implementing disaster recovery processes and business continuity procedures. Responsible for the business application software solutions; data, data systems, coordination of services for networks across the entire organization; and providing oversight and senior advisement in the design, installation, and connectivity of all core systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT assets. As a representative of management, supports the mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and decisions of the department and the City.
- BS degree in computer science or closely related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in designing, installing, configuring and security information technology systems and applications.
- Experience in the supervisory role of technical staff is desirable.
- Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator’s license and acceptable driving record required
- Excellent project management skills including project plan development, oversight, budget administration and closeout.
- Microsoft, Cisco or other related certifications are desirable.
- Understanding of storage architecture design techniques, theories, principles, and practices with application servers; storage devices; and on prem/hosted environments.
- Solid knowledge in archival/backup and DRP systems with a broad spectrum of storage technologies. Experience managing or administering system backups per compliance policies.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities and strong technical documentation skills. Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed with strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Strong customer service orientation and excellent ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, peers and management; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and with suppliers or the public as needed.
