The City of Lenexa is seeking a Recreation Program Instructor - Technology to join our team at the Lenexa Old Town Activity Center. This candidate will have a passion for helping older adults embrace technology and an understanding of their unique learning needs. The instructor will provide hands-on guidance in using smartphones, computers, tablets, and various software applications, helping seniors gain confidence and independence in a digital world. This position involves delivering group lessons, one-on-one sessions, and troubleshooting common tech issues in a supportive and friendly environment.
Schedule :
- Varying hours within Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities :
Strong knowledge of common technology, including smartphones, computers, tablets, software applications, and internet usage.
Previous experience working with the 50-plus community or teaching technology.
Starting rate of pay is $16.50 per hour.
Physical and Environmental Factors :
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. This position requires the ability to lift and move supplies and materials for recreation programs, activities, and events. Visual acuity is needed for reviewing information. During special events, long periods of standing with limited breaks may be required.
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
