GENERAL INFORMATION:
Department: Administration
Barg. Unit: Non-Union
Status: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week, Mon.-Thurs.)
Grade: 6 ($28.93-$42.69/hourly)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science or related field plus two (2) to four (4) years government experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be able to exercise independent judgement and initiative. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Works under the immediate direction of the City Administrator and the Deputy City Administrator. The position assists with research into problems and solutions facing the city and supports the administrative staff through a variety of support services. It serves an important role in analysis, information gathering, monitoring and data collection. It serves as a liaison between the city administrator/deputy city administrator and various local, regional, and state programs/organizations as well as assigned boards and committees within the city and community. The position will assist in public engagement efforts with community organizations and individual constituents. The position is also a liaison with elected officials and assists in constituent service matters. Special project support will also be an important element of duties involved.
Provides administrative assistance to the City Administrator, Deputy, Mayor and City Council. Performs a range of administrative, special event-project oversight and office manager functions for the Executive Department. Serves as first point of contact for the Executive Department and carries out other functions as directed by City Administration.
Some evening or weekend hours may be required for events, activities or meetings.
