Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator I- Athletics

The Parks and Recreation departmentis seeking a team oriented, and innovative professional to coordinate and lead youth and adult athletic leagues and programs in a dynamic, progressive organization. The successful candidate will provide onsite oversite for games and practices; manage athletic equipment and inventory; recruit and train volunteer coaches; book and schedule umpires and officials; coordinate summer sport camps and special event athletic programs; hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time staff, independent contractors, and volunteers; manage and develop budgets within program area; coordinate and inspect athletic facilities for program use to ensure conformance to maintenance and safety standards; establish and maintain effective productive working relationships with associates and a diverse public; and assist with day to day office operations.
This position currently leads a spring/summer youth baseball league, a fall and spring youth soccer leagues (cooperation with YMCA), a winter youth basketball league (cooperation with YMCA), girls lacrosse teams (cooperation with Davidson County Youth Lacrosse Association), various youth and adult athletic workshops/camps throughout the year including skateboarding, pickleball, tennis, golf, wrestling.
Hours will vary based on league schedules and are flexible. During leagues, hours typically include 3 evenings per week and Saturday mornings. This position is designed to typically be a 40-hour work week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an appropriately accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in recreation management, sports management or related field;
- Six months’ work experience in recreational or athletics setting;
- Appropriate driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record;
- Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid within six months;
- Ability to achieve certification as Certified Parks and Recreation Professional within one year;
- Ability to operate 15 passenger van.
Work Schedule
Monday-Saturday, hours vary to include 3 evenings per week and Saturdays during athletic leagues and occasional special events. Paid bi-weekly.
