We have an opening on our Utilities Construction Maintenance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a career with great benefits, stable income and a promising future! As a Construction Maintenance Worker, you will participate in the construction and repair of drinking water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, such as water and wastewater mains, connections, or service lines and construction or repair of valves, fire hydrants, and manholes. This is an entry-level position, with paid training. Some related experience is desirable, but not required. The pay rate will be dependent on experience.
Schedule & Benefits- Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm

- Participate in the construction and repair of drinking water and sanitary sewer infrastructure, such as water and wastewater mains, connections, or service lines and construction or repair of valves, fire hydrants, and manholes.
- Perform construction and repair activities in assigned division.
- Pour concrete for construction projects; assist in the repair of curbs, streets and sidewalks and other related areas.
- Install street barricades and cones prior to the performance of utilities construction or repair activities; direct and control traffic around work sites and streets.
- Operate a variety of equipment including backhoe, trucks, hydraulic pumps, rubber tire and track type loaders, line and level lasers, snow removal equipment, vactor and a variety of hand tools.
- Break and repair concrete and asphalt surfaces; excavate and replace concrete, dig ditches, backfill trenches and holes.
- Maintain assigned vehicles, tools and equipment needed for construction and repair; make minor repairs; report major repairs to supervisor.
- Maintain records and logs of all work performed and supplies used.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from customers/citizens in a professional, positive, friendly and helpful manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of essential duties including operating and maintaining assigned equipment.
- Maintain mental capacity which permits satisfactory performance of essential functions including decision-making, communication, teamwork and positive customer/citizen interactions and experiences.
Experience / License / Certification:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
- Additional job knowledge and experience in municipal areas such as water and wastewater infrastructure construction and building construction is desirable, but not required.
- Construction experience preferred but not required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain:
- Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tank endorsement
- Missouri Wastewater Treatment Level D certification
- Traffic Control Certification.
