JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and ensure safety of swimming pool patrols, enforcing rules and disciplining as appropriate
- Ensure pH and chlorine levels are safe
- Inspect pool, bath house, and equipment for proper maintenance and sanitation
- Assist in cleaning restrooms, showers, and pool deck as needed
- Inspect pool facility prior to opening and closing
- Close facility daily, following proper procedures to ensure security
- Account for all pool and concession income and deposits
- Monitor inventory in concession stand
- Monitor cleaning and maintenance supplies, and order supplies as needed
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from patrons and initiate action to resolve complaints
- Interview applicants and make hiring recommendations
- Supervise and direct assigned personnel, including performance management and evaluation and corrective action as appropriate
- Lead new employee orientation and provide training
- Perform duties of bath/concession worker as needed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications represent the minimum requirements to competently perform the key responsibilities of this job in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications, or other knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, certification as Pool Operator, Food Service Handler, Water Safety Instructor, and CPR
- 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard and/or previous pool management experience
- 1 years’ personnel management experience
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record
- Ability to pass a drug test

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of and ability to apply various safety and health policies and procedures, including first aid, CPR, and bloodborne pathogens control
- General knowledge of safe handling of pool purification and cleaning chemicals
- Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of City and department policies and procedures and applicable EPA and OSHA safety policies and procedures
- Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons

Hearing is required to perceive information through oral communication and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
Incumbent is regularly exposed to sun and pool and cleaning chemicals. Incumbent may occasionally be exposed to violent/irate individuals.
